Invisalign is a type of orthodontic treatment. It uses a series of clear, nearly invisible plastic aligners to gradually reposition and straighten your teeth.
Instead of relying on rubber bands and brackets like traditional metal braces, Invisalign relies on SmartTrack®, an FDA-approved thermoplastic. SmartTrack is free of BPS, BPA, latex, and gluten, making it safe for pregnant women and people with allergies.
The team at Pure Health Dental typically uses Invisalign to address mild or moderate orthodontic issues, including:
You might also benefit from Invisalign if you have crooked teeth or a misaligned jaw.
Invisalign treatment begins with an in-office appointment at Pure Health Dental. During your consultation, the team reviews your oral health history, conducts an oral exam, and asks about your goals for treatment. They then take digital X-rays to obtain pictures of your jaw and teeth.
Next, the team takes impressions using a digital scanner. They upload your impressions into a special software program that allows your provider to develop a custom orthodontic treatment plan. Once the team finalizes your treatment regimen, your impressions are sent to a dental laboratory that manufactures your first set of aligners.
To achieve the best possible outcome, wear your aligners for 20-22 hours each day. Every two to three weeks, you return to Pure Health Dental and change into a new set of mouthpieces.
Invisalign treatment typically takes 6-12 months. More complex alignment issues may take up to 18 months. Be patient and wear your aligners as prescribed. Only remove your aligners to brush and floss or eat. The more closely you adhere to your treatment plan, the less likely you are to experience complications.
Caring for your Invisalign aligners is easy. The team at Pure Health Dental recommends taking your aligners out several times each day to rinse them off in cool tap water. Before going to bed at night, brush your aligners with toothpaste and a soft-bristle toothbrush. For a more comprehensive cleaning, ask your provider about the Invisalign Cleaning System.
